Reflective of this is his tenure as Vice President of Operations with Discovery Land Company, a worldwide leader in luxury golf, community and lifestyle development. While with Discovery, Mr. Abbott instituted service ideas for amenity enhancements and experiences. His ability to develop and execute distinctive service and member experiences for Discovery projects resulted in significant sales, member satisfaction and operational excellence.
Evident everyday at Bluejack National, Mr. Abbott has a keen ability to effectively execute simultaneous projects without compromising quality, timelines or functionality. Building upon the differences of the sales, marketing, operations and financial teams, Abbott has led successful executive-level marketing and finance campaigns in environments where growth and accountability were paramount.
In addition, Mr. Abbott is a two-time “PGA Merchandiser of the Year,” a former ESPN golf commentator and a swing coach to such noted PGA TOUR players as Mark O’Meara, Paul Stankowski, Pat Perez and others.
Abbott’s expertise and leadership is currently on display at some of the nation’s most elite private clubs and communities in North America. He is married with four kids, and is based in Dallas, Texas.
Mr. Paulson has over 20 years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry with an emphasis on high-end private clubs and specializing in creating experiences to enhance generational relationships among his members.
Prior to forming Beacon Land Development with Michael Abbott, Mr. Paulson was General Manager/Chief Operating Officer of the Vaquero Club in Westlake, Texas. Vaquero has been consistently named among the premier private clubs and communities since debuting in 2001. Vaquero has 350 members, 125 employees and annual revenue of approximately $11 million. Paulson was instrumental in the club’s seamless turnover of the club from its developer (Discovery Land Company) to its members in 2009, and improved the financial position of the club by approximately $3 million in his first four years. Prior to his post at Vaquero, Mr. Paulson was the Director of Golf at the Kuki’o Golf and Beach Club in Kailua-Kona on Hawaii.
All of this success has followed Mr. Paulson to Bluejack National, a thriving private club and resort-style community in Montgomery, Texas. Named Golf Inc.’s Development of the Year for 2015 and Golf Digest’s #1 Best New Golf Course for 2016, Paulson oversees all operations as President of Bluejack.
Mr. Paulson is a Class A PGA Golf Professional, 2014 PGA Section Professional of the Year in North Texas, 2013 PGA Section Horton Smith Award Winner in North Texas, 2004 PGA Section Merchandiser of the Year for Private Facilities in Hawaii and was named one of the Top 25 Merchandisers in the Country by Golf World Business in 2004. An accomplished player, Mr. Paulson has won golf tournaments both on the collegiate and professional levels, and qualified for the 2012 PGA Professional National Championship in Monterey, California. He is a member of the Club Manager’s Association of America and is working towards his Club Manager Certification.
Paulson is married with three children, and maintains his primary residence in Montgomery, Texas.

With 32 years of experience in golf, Michael provides counsel, key introductions and assists with shaping the vision, the brand and the message.
